The Roman amphitheater of Leptis Magna is a Roman amphitheater located in Libya, near Homs a few hundred kilometers east of Carthage and about 130 km from today's Tripoli. It was built in 56 during the principality of Emperor Nero in the cavity of an old building materials quarry.
The amphitheater could accommodate 15,000 people. The major axis of the ellipse measures 100 meters in length while the minor axis is 80.
