Biet Golgotha
Biet Golgotha or "House of Golgotha" (also called Biet Golgotha-Selassie) is an Ethiopian Orthodox worship church located in Lalibela, Amhara region, Ethiopia.
It is one of the eleven cave churches in the city that were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1978, [1]u200b and is part of the group of six churches located to the northwest.
Biet Golgotha u200bu200bis monolithic type. The building has numerous bas-reliefs of saints, the tomb of Christ and a nativity scene, as well as the "Tomb of Adam" and that of King Lalibela.
The adjoining chapel called Selassie is hypogeal type and trapezoidal in plan. It has an apse, a central column and a pointed window, and houses three altars adorned with carved crosses and bas-reliefs representing the four evangelists.Read more
